From a young age, Sandy has seen the effort and rewards that come with owning a small business. And like most small businesses, it truly was a family affair, requiring something from each member of the family. After moving up to Abbotsford from California, Sandy found herself serving the customers of her parents' flower shop - Abby Florist - where she dabbled in daisies and daffodils on evenings and weekends. Through this experience, she grew to appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit and grit required to be successful.
Naturally this drive translated into her own experience, when she went on to operate a successful window covering business, serving businesses and families throughout the Lower Mainland. But as it would turn out, Sandy wasn't going to be staying local for long.
Early in their marriage, Sandy and her husband moved to a small town in the Netherlands as a part of a work transfer. Three and a half years later, they gained global experience, learning how to integrate into new communities and building meaningful relationships.
When the time came to come home, they decided to relocate to Winnipeg, where they ended up raising their two kids to endure the harshest of Canadian winters. After they had been 'hardened up', Sandy and her family relocated back home to Abbotsford.
After setting into their new rhythms in Abbotsford, Sandy started working at the local Edward Jones office, and then followed up that experience with 8 years working with a team of advisors from Raymond James. Just as the COVID-19 pandemic was tightening it's grip on the world, Sandy launched into her final transition - joining Brad and Steve in the Willems Wealth Planning Group of Assante Financial Management Ltd.
Sandy has taken on the role of being our Insurance Administration Lead, and provides a supporting role to all other areas of client care including file preparation, trade execution, and follow up activities. She is eager to dig in, learn and grow in her technical understanding.
When she's not at work, Sandy enjoys spending time either gardening or exploring the many campgrounds and parks available in our beautiful province.
