Over the past few days our community has shouldered the brutal impact of a natural disaster. We’ve all felt the blows. Our neighbours, our families, our homes, our roads, our farms, and our colleagues have all been impacted in some way.
From fire to flood, landslide to landlock, much of this has felt surreal. But for those affected it’s all too real. Like a bad dream of a complex and ever evolving emergency situation.
That’s why we have partnered with the Abbotsford Community Foundation, the University of the Fraser Valley and the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce as their first pillar supporter to launch the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund.
This fund will provide grants to local agencies delivering relief to those who need it most.
Our moment of crisis is not yet over. And the effects of the flooding will be long term. People who have lost their homes and means of livelihood will need help for months.
If you have the means and inclination, you can help these people by giving at the following address: https://abbotsfordcf.org/disaster
